On Sunday February 1st the KODTC club year commences with a new Foundation class and a resumption of training for handlers and dogs in classes 1 to 4. Our new Foundation class members have already attended their online Induction session and are eager for their first classes on Sunday at 9.00am. It's always good for new members to come a little earlier to ensure a parking spot and to give their pooch time to have a sniff around and settle down. A reminder to those who haven't presented evidence of their pooch's latest vaccination to bring it along on Sunday (a photo on your phone is totally adequate).
Flyball training has been continuing over January with a couple of competitions attended by the T'Keilor Flyball Teams. T'Keilor is currently one of the strongest Flyball teams in Victoria and are just starting to put together plans for the National Flyball Championships which will be held in Bendigo in September, run by Keilor. If anyone is wanting to train for Flyball please let us know at the kiosk. Flyball training is held at 12 noon on Sundays, after classes and also on Wednesday evenings for those who can attend then. We require new dogs to complete the Foundation class (which usually lasts 4 weeks) before they start Flyball training. Dogs need a good recall for Flyball and need to be reasonably comfortable around other dogs. (Although this we can assist with). The people to talk to about Flyball training are Bree, one of our wonderful instructors and Drew who is usually at club around 12 noon on Sundays.
The club has a Facebook page (KeilorDogTraining) where we keep members informed about any short-term changes to classes such as cancellation due to weather (maybe extremely hot weather or the forecast of thunderstorms). We recommend that all members keep an eye on the Facebook page. We also put up photos of all dogs that are promoted on the FB page. When you are promoted by the instructors please come up to the kiosk so we can take you and your dog's details, take a photo of you and your pooch and give you a ribbon and a complementary packet of 4Legs dog food dog food.
Our club is sponsored by the 4Legs company who supply us with 4 Legs dog food to use as treats in class and for us to give to members when they are promoted. We are very grateful to 4 Legs as are our dogs who love receiving it as rewards in class. 4Legs has been a wonderful sponsor to our club for many years. Bendigo Bank is also a sponsor of our club and we acknowledge their much-appreciated support.
